so far as I know there is no real way to make a z170 board support kaby lake.

You may need to update the BIOS on the motherboard before the i7-7700K is recognized by the Z170 motherboard.

Additionally, error code 55 refers to "Memory Initialization Error".

  • Check the CPU socket for any bent pins
  • Make sure the memory (RAM) sticks are properly installed into the memory slots
  • Try one stick of RAM at a time -- you may have a defective stick of RAM

We tried it by changing the ram around one by one and we didn't get an error code but I can't display

Update the BIOS. 1xx chipsets don't work out of the box with Kaby Lake. Should've gotten a 2xx board for that.

Send it back and let the seller flash the BIOS or get a Skylake Celeron to do the flashing with.

So, I recently made a thread asking for help on my first build long story short it would not post an there is actually two reasons why. The first being my RAM when I first turned on my PC all the fans turned on and what not but it didn't post the speaker would beep 5 times and then the PC would shut down turn back on and beep 5 times. I asked on the forums and someone suggested taking my ram out and put only one stick in and start it up and if it still beeps try the other stick and I did that and it worked I turned it off I left the one that worked where it was and put the other stick back in it doesn't beep. Now my second problem is my Z170X motherboard needs a bios update and it becomes compatible with 200 series chipset I knew this ahead of time but didn't realize I would have too use an already compatible processor to be able to update the bios. It's kind of stupid. Anyways I just bought an i5 6500 that I'm going to use to download the bios update and them I'm going to give that to my dad and he's going to upgrade his build. It wont be here until Tuesday. But I'm a little bit worried that my one RAM stick that was making my motherboard beep is defected. My question is because the RAM was having an error and I did rearrange it and it started working does that mean that the one stick is defected or should it work fine when I get my processor?
