Firstly, let me start off by saying i'm a novice when it comes to computers.

I have 2 SSD's (Corsair 60gb + 480gb Crucial).

60gb pretty much has my OS and any basic files saved on there.

480gb SSD = Fortunately, this is where i have all my important personal files, e.g. Music, Films, Steam Games, Pictures etc...

Last week, i attempted to start my computer as normal, only to be prompted with a error screen stating something on the lines of "Unable to Boot/Start, Please insert CD-ROM or check BIOS Settings" etc...

I've then entered the BIOS to check the boot priority, the Corsair 60gb isn't there (which was first on my Boot Priority), but, my Crucial 480gb SSD is recognised.

I've done a basic sanity test and swapped the sata cables from my Crucial 480gb SSD to the Corsair 60gb SSd in case the wire perhaps could of failed? Still no joy.

Few questions i have are:

Any further sanity checks i can do? - bearing in mind my computers skills aren't so top notch

What possible tests can i do to see if any of the data on the 60g SSD is recoverable; so it can be cloned on to a new SSD?

Recovering the data will be my preferred choice, unless you convince me otherwise, as i originally had windows 7 installed (which i still have the disc for) before taking up Microsoft's offer with upgrading to Windows 10 for free.

Thanks in advance

Hard one... If the Bios doesn't recognize your SSD anymore then it looks very bad...

Did you also swap the Power Cable? Maybe the cable got bent too much?

Also depending on your Bios, you can disable certain SATA Ports from your MB, but since you switched SATA Cables with a working SSD this should not be the case.

I am not sure if SSDs are recoverable like the HDDs, since this is a complete different technology...

My Setup:
CPU: i7 4790 @3800 MHz, MB: MSI H87-G41, Grafik: Gigabyte GTX 1080TI, RAM: 2x 8GB DDR3 (1600), Storage: Samsung SSD 850 Evo

SSDs are recoverable I believe, but if it had nothing valuable on it, then there is no point recovering it anyways as there is nothing to recover and it will cost more than a new operating system anyways, and you can just reinstall, windows I'm and there should be no problem with it, should be, windows is strange sometimes. And with SATA ports when they start acting up, well then your fucked as they aren't fun when they start playing nasty, as one of my motherboard proves.

With the motherboard I'm talking about, we fell out over nothing, literally, and all the SATA ports on it are not working, but they aren't broken, as occasionally they appear, when I'm trying to install win 10 onto a drive installed into it, for example, but as soon as I try to use it, the motherboard then laughs at me and makes them stop working again, (the SATA cables and SATA power work, as it works when I plug them into another computer), and anyways, me and the motherboard haven't made up yet, I'm still waiting for him to say sorry to me.
