As the title says i play to upgrade my media pc's gpu, currently its running on an OEM gtx 660 (Different to the normal 660 as it has more cuda cores but a lower clock), however the card is somewhat lacking in 1080p gaming even at mid to low settings and very loud. Because of this i plan to upgrade to a 1050 (Tight budget). However i thought i would run it by the forms first just to check

Thanks :)

I don't think you will be seeing huge performance increases in games, but a 1050 will definitely be less noisy.

Try to shoot for an RX460 4GB? IIRC it's a smidge faster than the 1050 (or at least offers same performance at lower price).

really? All the benchmarks i see show it performing a lot worse

I thought it was the 460 that traded blows with the 1050? It's been a while since I watched any of them so it's very possible I'm thinking of the 470 vs 1060.
