 asus is much has better specs but alienwere has cheaper much  model

besides is alienwere too heavy and big 

i only have seen 17 inch model and i liked it but it was way too big

I have used both machines and my vote goes to the alienware. But why the difference in specs?

The alienware is the same size as a 17inch macbook pro. The macbooks screen went corner to corner though. It is large but not crazy huge

You aren't even comparing apples to apples...Alienware has waaaay more variants than that.  Go to their website and you can get the same config as the Asus ROG.

 

As for portability, 8 pounds sounds like a shit ton, but it's not bad once you get used to it.  Plus it feels like a premium machine, unlike a ROG, WHICH I have used.  ROGs feel like Pavilion laptops.

i know that but i have best buy store credit thats why i am stuck with it 

and am comaring my options 

and its just same specks alienwere is more expencive thats why i am not considering 1070 alienwere

the reason why i like it is because it has a g-sync display which is rare on a device this low cost.  the dis-advantage to asus computers which is kinda like msi is they lack in build qualty especially the strix line.  they are mostly plastic body's and the screen can get damaged if you put to much pressure on the back of it.  alienware laptops are generally a bit more thick all around and win in my book in terms of build quality.  but in terms of final conclusion, alienware are the best in terms of build quality but cost the most for what they are which deters most customers from buying them.  msi and asus are excallent machines but lack the build quality of alienware but are at a lower cost for better parts.  one last thing about the strix line of laptops.  if you plan on not using any headphones especially when you are gaming, dont go for it.  the speakers are on the side of the laptop where ur wrists might sit and the sound just becomes horrible.  but if your using headphones then your fine.

I used to have the heavier version of that MSI laptop (the GE62), and I believe they both have the same screen, which I thought was very good. The reason I'm not getting it is because it has terrible thermals.

Get the ASUS. Best Buy sells Alienware, but they cannot service them outside of the Store GeekSquad due to Dell's contract. So, if you have any issues, it has to go to Dell only. That is how Dell works. If you have issues with ASUS, they can work on it there if it has anything wrong in the future. Not saying you can't do it yourself, but if you have a warranty, you'd probably rather use that first.

IF it was up to me. Buy from Dell alienware website. it is 10x better. you can have a 1070 in that 15inch.

People call Alienwares the Macs of gaming laptops, which is a fair.  Like Macs, they feel and look premium, but are expensive.  Great customer support though, sent it to them to fix a popping noise in the hinge and I got it back in three days.
