So since the mac as all usb C

would apple use type C on the iphones

ive had a type c device before and physically connector looks larger than the lightning

am i correct in thinking the lightning port ia smaller than type  c (physical size)

please no apple v whatever or any hate on apple

I thought they were exactly the same in terms of size? I've never actually checked, I've got an iPhone SE and my motherboard has a Type-C connector, they looked the same.

its to do with the fact that on lightning connectors the pins are on the outside of the male plug facing out and on a type c the pins are on the inside of the plug facing inwards in terms of space i think it would certainly fit but will they ever do it? i hope so but i will always remain sceptical

USB-C is slightly thicker. But we're talking fractions of MM's here.

Apple won't change their iOS to USB-C. it's all "ecosystem" for them

When comparing it to my friends op3 (type c) looks bigger

I kinda want them to tbh, i mean they did it to the mac

it would make a lot of sense for the rest of the world and for standards. But Apple has been very very keen about not following standards when it  means being able to sell additional cables / dongles.

it's also a large revenue generation for Apple. the "MFI" program, which is required if you want to have a legit compatibility with i-Devices, is a revenue generator for Apple. Moving to USB-C would end that, since USB-C is not proprietary.

I would be very very surprised if Apple moved to USB-C on iOS devices in the next 2-3 years, (unless the EU or someone mandates it)

MagSafe doesn't do data transfer though while lighting does they control who makes lightning connectors and can block 3rd party devices if needed with lightning which they couldn't do with usb c so this closes the gap when it comes to hardware hacks.

this is why ill always remain sceptical

I lurk a lot
