My Stpuid Router

So a while back I got a nice ASUS router (AC-56R) for $5 USD at a garage sale. It wasn't enough for the previous owner's house, but I had visions of using it as a range extender. Fast forward to today, and I need it as a range extender. My old one blew up, so I need to use the ASUS one. It works decently, but after changing our internet service speed and getting a new router, the ASUS won't stay connected reliably. It will work for a couple hours and then no internet connectivity. It sucks because I need it for my computers and smart TV. Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening?

Hi,

 

what troubleshooting steps you tried?

Did you try reseting both your router and the ASUS router to factory defaults and reconfiguring them?

Quote and/or tag people using @ otherwise they don't get notified of your response!

The main router needs no resetting as it was just installed. I have reset the ASUS router multiple times, and nothing changes. I must turn it off with the hard power button and turn it back on for it to work, but only for a couple more hours.

I've just checked it now and the ASUS router appears to have stayed up all day with no issues. I tested it and sure enough, YouTube loaded. Of course it works the day I ask a question about it. Thanks!
