Storage Drive Dead?

It isn't.

I've tried swapping the cables for my SSD and HDD, SSD works fine on both HDD on neither.

I also tried a different power cable, however its part of the same cable as the SSD so there really shouldn't and wasn't any issue.

I read up on the problem and apparently that means the PCB is dead.

Sound like the PCB is dead, like you mentioned. If you have another drive that is exactly the same, you could try the transplant process just to get your data back.

I tried to start SR4 after closing it 5 minutes prior (meaning it worked then, except it hung for some reason when I tried to quit it) and it wouldn't start. All my monitors started flashing black and there were weird black rectangles on the monitor with the Steam client open.

I decided to restart my computer and it turns out my storage drive can't be detected.  2lhtej1.png

Last time I had a problem with it, I decided to format it which fixed it. But then it was my main drive.

I bought a GTX 970 from a friend I know, and then also a 600W Antec PSU from someone on reddit to power it. I'm a little worried that my case is horrendous for it. There's about 1 inch of space between the case and the fans. There is no ventilation on that side. The i/o side of the case has a couple of grills for ventilation. And one side of the case has a 0.5x5in grill for ventilation as well. So obviously its shit ventilation.

I don't know if that has anything to do with my drive or not.

How can I check if my storage drive is truly dead?

check the smart data with something like crystal disk info, but probably dead.

I've never noticed any gradual symptoms with it.

First it suddenly stopped being able to be read by my computer but formatting fixed it.

Now it suddenly being able to be read again, except this time its a storage drive.

I've never heard clicking noises, or slowdowns, nothing.

CrystalDisk doesn't see it.

My GPU is inbetween the SATA ports and the drives. Could the heat break one of the connectors?
