Best thin gaming laptop for under $1500usd?

Old cheap Toshiba is dying and need a replacement. What is best value thin gaming laptop around as a desktop replacement?

Preferably as thin and light as possible as I need to bring it around very often. At most 0.9in and 4-5lbs.

Mainly using it for coding, gaming and everyday stuff.

14" - 15" with hopefully 1060 but 970m/1050ti are okay.

i7 and 16gb ram with at least 1TB hdd or 250gb ssd.

I want to try to get a good laptop that can last me at least 5+ years as laptops are pretty expensive, especially in Canada D:

I literally just logged in to post an almost identical question, as my MSI GE62 had a bad run in with a bottle of beer. Here are the two I'm deciding between:

Dell XPS 15 9560 (http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/xps-15-9560-laptop/fncwxb1610s)

It has a 1050 (not ti), but it's super thin, and very light. The one I'm looking at has the smaller battery, so I can fit a 1TB HDD in to store media on.

The bigger, bulkier option I'm looking at is the ASUS ROG GL502VM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16834234299). It has a 1060, gsync, one of the best laptop screens available (according to some reviews I read), and a really nice keyboard, but it's big and heavy like my old laptop, and it's SERIOUSLY ugly (imho).

I'd be really interested to hear what anyone else has to say, or any other suggestions anyone would like to give.

Which screen option would you go with on that? How heavy is it? about the same as my GE62?

^ it's the exact same chasiss just with an updated CPU. Also I prefer the 4k option only because of the god awful backlight in 1080p.

If they don't offer 4k, just make sure you give them a call and make them check for you.

From what I hear and see on the Aorus forums, (the only other laptop that uses the 15in 1080p 120hz GSync panel), it's pretty good even if it's TN. It doesn't have any of the problems like banding like it's bigger brother the 17in QHD one.

Dont see an option for a 4k, just for 2 different 1080p screens, lg or auo.

Saw that, thanks for the info. That's an awesome looking laptop, but I've had so many bad experiences with rear power cable jacks that i'm going to have to pass. I haven't seen that on a laptop in a very long time.

The Sager one still comes to a total of $1700 with shipping D:

Xps 15 was the first thing I looked at but the other options all have better gpu for a similar price.
The ASUS GL502VM has the best deal for the specs in Canada from what I can find, but it does look sub-par.

I found some used Razer Blade with i7 4th gen,256gb ssd, 970m for $1200, the form factor makes it pretty appealing but it seems like it has heat problems.

Oh Canada. ): Unfortunately, that makes the problem harder. http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(1,396,0)ec

I had this one, but it's the Skylake one. Eurocom is notorious for being slow to update their shit (so update from Skylake to Kaby Lake).

Yeah, the selling point of the xps 15 is definitely the size. it's definitely underpowered compared to others in it's price range. I have a desktop for heavy gaming, so I may still end up going with it, but I really like the specs on the ASUS.

The Eurocom Monster 4 seems like a possible candidate with it's size and spexs too

I'm going to use this laptop for almost everything all the time so it seems like I'd rather get a better gpu than the 960m or the 970m tho hmm

Seems like I have to choose between paying the premium for the 1060 jump from 970m or size/portability

Nooooo, there's a new model with the 1050ti! Ask Eurocom when they'll have it in supply.

This is the model I'm referring to.

If you're still looking at the clevo, I found it on amazon with the 4k display and 512gb ssd for only $1449 USD. At that price I might even go for it, normally sells for $2400.

You can get an MSI GS63 with GTX 1060 for around 1200 USD, depending on where you are located.
