I just finished building a webserver for my house to host my website on since I'm tired of paying for hosting.

Anyway, I can connect to it publicly (for example, at my school) but here is where the main issue arises. None of the CSS or jQuery loads, and if you refresh the page you can't connect for a bit (not 100% on how long).

Another thing I'm wondering about, how would I go about pointing my domain name to my server? I imagine it would just be making an A record with my public IP?

EDIT:

I should specify, I'm running Ubuntu Server 12.04 on a stock ASUS CM1630

The Workstation – Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 WS | CPU: Intel i7-4930k @ 4GHz | GPU: EVGA GTX 780 Superclocked | RAM: 32GB G.Skill RipjawsX 1600MHz | Storage: 250GB Samsung EVO SSD, 3TB WD Green  | PSU: Corsair AX760i

The Server – Motherboard: ASUS M4A78LT-M | CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240 @ 3.0GHz | RAM: 4GB 1333MHz | Case: Silverstone PS08

The iMac – CPU: Intel i7-2600 @ 3.5GHz | GPU: Radeon HD 6970M 2GB | RAM: 16GB 1600MHz | Storage: Hitachi 2TB 7200RPM

Can you access the CSS and Jquery files over the internet?

As for the domain, if you have a static IP then you can just add an A record.

Yes. I think I figured out the issue. All of the links are using the local IP address instead of the public IP address.

Now I just need to figure out why it takes so long to connect to the server publicly.
