Hey everyone, since everyone and their dog has a YouTube channel, I decided I wanted to start doing some videos myself, now, I don't have a big set up or money to buy anything right now, I plan on using my Galaxy S7 Edge or iPhone 7 to film, now my question is, what settings would be ideal to film video? Also, what's a good free Editing Software that I could use? I know Premiere is the best but I don't have the money to get that. And what are best settings to export the video? I've never done anything like this before so I'm in a complete blank when it comes to all this stuff. Thank you all for your help!

Hitfilm 4 is pretty good. As for settings, just record at 720p or something like that.

record at 1080p and pirate some adobe suite for educational purposes, the s7 has more camera features so you have more control, i would recommend that over the iPhone.

So should do 1080p 60fps? also, I am a student in college, is there any special promotion with Adobe or something? or you meant another thing? Also, once edited, how do you export to YouTube? Is there like a prebuilt YouTube standard export?

just export at standard mp4 h.624, you can see if adobe has a promotion.

One more questions, if I have some footage that I recorded in 4k on the phone, is there a way to turn it into 1080p or what can I do to be able to use that footage that I already have?

you can record in 4k and downsample it to 1080p.
