White paste inside my CX550M

Hello, i noticed my PSU (CX550M) has a white thing inside and it looks like solid gum or something, i want to know if it is a problem or its a normal thing, does it have something to do that my PSU is facing the fan down the case??, in other forums people say its normal and that white thing is for reducing vibrations and noise.

That's normal, I have it in my CX450M as well. It's either insulator or noise dampening

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Reduce vibrations, noise, coil whine reduction, to electrically isolate components, and lessen the chance they can touch.

 

There's any number of reasons why a manufacturer will fill their product with either silicone, sikaflex, or in this case what looks like a putty.

But no, this is not a problem ... seems like some sort of glue to me.
