I have a 7870 and I see it dating since most games use 2gb of video ram. I don't know what graphics card I should get. I can save up for something high end, but I would also like to know the cheaper alternatives. I have no bias on whether its Nvidia or AMD, I want something future proof. I only play on a 1080p monitor as of now.

For 1080p gaming I would say either GTX 1060 or RX 480.

Both cards can run pretty much anything at 1080p ultra settings 60fps.

What's your budget?

Intel i7 12700K | Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 | Pure Loop 240mm | G.Skill 3200MHz 32GB CL14 | CM V850 G2 | RTX 3070 Phoenix | Lian Li O11 Air mini

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans

WD My Cloud 4TB

I can spend 200+ I have a job but I also need to pay for college lol. Any recommendation on what version of each card I should get?

Well RX 480 should be around that price.

And it's pretty much perfect card for 1080p gaming right now.

So I would suggest you that card :)

idk if it makes a difference but I would like to stream as well

RX480 should have something for that, but for streaming, I would go with GTX 1060 6GB. It costs more and doesn't give any more performance than RX 480, but ShadowPlay for recording is just great.

Can't say anything for RX480 streaming, since I never tested it. All I know is that ShadowPlay lets you record/stream without any performance decrease.

What about a 1070? How would that work out in 1080p?

Well GTX 1070 can handle 1440p at 60fps max settings, so it's more than enough for 1080p.

With GTX 1070, you are looking at around 100fps with max settings.
