NTFS failure

Hi,a friend of mine got into a problem a few days ago.He couldn't start his pc due to 'NTFS Failure'.I have no idea what is that.I tried searching for solutions everywhere in the internet but no answers...If someone know how to fix this,please help.There's important stuff inside his pc and he needs it asap.
