Is my crazy idea... possible?

I have a mentally insane idea, so I buy all the parts for a phone (logic board, screen, battery etc,) put it all together, 3d print my own case at my library, and install nougat on it? I know it'll be more complicated than that (obviously) but is it possible..? And would I need to get all the parts for the same phone, like say I went for a pixel logic board (theoretical) could I put a samsung display in it? even if I need an adapter.

Easier said than done. I bet it's possible, but just a lot of planning and work. (frustration.. lots of that too)

Ik I know that of course, its not as easy as building a PC. I just wanted to know if its possible

You'll need all the parts to come from the same phone, in my experience every phone seems to have it's own connectors for everything. Also when repairing phones certain phones would outright refuse a screen that was from a different revision of the phone. It would be a lot of work but probably worth it. Also I guarantee you can choose your own battery so you can have as big of a sucker in there as you want, you may also be able to jerry rig a different camera but I can't say that it would work for certain.
