New laptop, opened today. Battery was acting weird ( always said charging 67% even tho it wasn't 67% battery ) and now if I unplug the charger it immediatley dies.

 

Ideas? Is it screwed?

Is the battery removable?

Imminently signs of a DOA battery call the vender or ask for a exchange or refund now

I'd definitely return it on the warranty. Saves you all the hassle.

 

My bets would be that the battery either isn't properly wired or that the battery-charging thingy in the laptop has failed.

 

67% battery, is it safe to use a multimeter and check the voltages of it?

 

Scratch that, don't do shit and just return it. Less things they can blame you for the better.

Right... So you'd rather potentially void your warranty and still possibly not repair it than do 6 hours of downloading and getting things ready. Like get your priorities in order. Clearly, you were sold a defective unit so you need to get it sorted out. I'm surprised that there's even a question in your mind about sending it back. This isn't your fault.

If you have the know-how (not that it's really hard to do, but I always forget how so takes atleast half an hour), transfer it through your LAN. Any router within the last five years should have at least 100Mbit.

 

That beats even USB3 doesn't it?

Either way prolly beats ye HDDs unless you downloaded 6 hrs of movies or smtn.

 

EDIT:

You can use Bittorrent sync! That'll get you sending it through your LAN in no time!

Maybe even get you going on that continuous backup schedule so you can just reset your computer once a season without hassle!

 

EDIT2: With a HyperX Savage and a 1070 I expect you to have a gigabit router tbh :P
