Is this normal?

PigWithAMustache

I recently bought an ASUS VS238H 1080p monitor, but whenever I turn my PC on, I have to turn the monitor off and on again for it to recieve a signal. Its not a big problem, I'm just wondering if there is a way i can make it turn on by itself. Thanks!

It should in theory automatically turn on. What cable are you using to connect the monitor to your pc?

When in doubt, re-format.

Is your GPU and or Onboard graphics feeding any other display other than this one? As in more than one display wired to your PC like a TV.

check the monitor's power saver settings.  I had to adjust the settings on an ASUS VE248H because it did the same thing.

In the NVIDIA Control Panel, it says that the monitor is an HDTV. I never bothered to fix it because i never thought it mattered. Should I fix it?

That would be a setting you want to change.  That is also a power saving feature on the video card so it doesn't keep the TV powered in sleep modes.

The nVidia Control panel should have a section that identifies what is connected to it, as well as an energy saver section.  It should allow you to manually select the type of monitor added.  My guess is you're using HDMI.  If you were to use DVI, it should also avoid this as the HDMI settings are generally set to identify a TV is connected.  Display port usually also doesn't have this issue, but I don't think your model has a Display port.

Could not find anything you were talking about in the control panel...

depending on your nVidia manager version, it might be under 3D settings.  Possibly under Global.  look for Power management.

how about in Displays under 'setup multiple displays'.

I don't have an nVidia in my environment, at the moment, so I'm doing this from memory.  Sorry about that.  When I head home for the day, I might try to pop back on when I can check the interface.  Also, what version is the nVidia manager you're using?
