Hey there.

$3000 is definitely a nice numbe to play with, I can't access Newegg at the moment so I'll just go of general knowledge, you'll want stuff in this ballpark:

Intel i7-3770k

Corsair H100i

ASRock X79 Extreme4

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (1800MHz)

Corsair TX 750/850W PSU

Corsair 500r/800D case

Seagate 1TB (x4)

Corsair Neutron GTX 240GB SSD

NVIDIA EVGA GTX 680 x2 (SLI)

Not sure if your budget will allow those, but just take those parts and experiment.

the 2 EVGA GTX 680 (SLI) is good idea or get the Asus Ares II limited edition.

for the water cooling system i will go for the kraken H220

for the Mobo you can go either for Asus maximus formula V extreme or the newer MSI dragon gaming Motherboards Z77A GD65.

CPU i7 3770K is pretty good.

RAM 16 to 32 Gb Gskills ripjawsX 2133Mhz.

PSU OCZ-ZX1250W-UN Full Modular, 80 PLUS Gold.

Case CM storm striker white from cooler master.

with me whoever, ahead who can

That A) won't work and B)some of those parts are ridiculous.

Personally I'd go with EVGA as they're like any other, but EVGA tend to always offer money back guarantees whereas other's don't.

You don't need an Asus Maximus V Extreme Mobo.. Just because you have lots to spend, doesn't mean you should. You get the exact same performance from an ASRock Extreme 4 Z77 and it's half the price. There's no such thing as a Kraken H220. It's either Swiftec H220 or NZXT Kraken X60. But as for that, go with the Kraken X60. You say an i7-3770k is pretty good, yet it's the second best CPU available to the pubic? :P And as for RAM, no... Just no. You don't need 32GB 2133MHz RAM.. Especially for your first buy/build. Remember you can always upgrade in the future. And only a nitwit would buy an OCZ PSU, all I have to say. Corsair TX 750 is the best thing you could probably buy for your needs.

And no to that CM storm striker case. Purely from experience, (Tested several CM cases) I've found several of them to be rather tacky/flimsy. Thus why I suggested a Corsair 500r/800D case.

Wow, i was trying to help the guy only, yeah about the kraken h220 i mix them wrong, sorry my bad, i wanted to mean swiftec H220, I have to desagree with you about the RAM, simonbourque want to do video editing and its going to need a lot of RAM, about the case ok its up to likes, i like the case it self, my cousin has one and it looks cool and never had a problem, the motherboard personally ASRock is for user desktops, their gaming mobos aren´t really well ( it is my opinion) MSI or ASUS has much better mobos, so yeah you pay double but you get what you pay, and i don´t want to be rude to you, but if i was you, think about how you speak to people on this forum i didn´t call you anything like you just did, nitwit, i have an OCZ PSU and it works fine, you don´t like it ok but not need to be rude. and now i´m going to explain to you something if you go on the life like this, like you now everything and the rest is wrong be careful because you will end up alone. respect other people and be more humble.

thank you

Woah..? I think you've confused yourself, I've in no way been rude.. If I carry on my life like this? If simply suggesting parts to the OP and telling you some things from experience is rude then I don't know what to say? And I didn't directly call you a nitwit, and if you find that offensive then.. I hope you live in a place like Africa where people don't speak English and therefore you can't be offended by insults. That was sarcasm, but not rude.. I know you was trying to help the guy, so is everyone here. I know you mixed those two wrong, that's why I put a smiley face. You're right video editing does require a lot of RAM power, I wasn't questioning your suggestions, I was just was blown away because 32GB's of 2133MHz RAM is insane.

I suggested a Corsair 500r/800D case because their both quite aesthetic and are good cases. I know it's your opinion, but ASRock Motherboard's aren't specifically for desktop users. I'm sure your OCZ SSD does work fine, what I was saying is that their generally known to be unreliable and an Intel 330 Series/Corsair make SSD are better, thus why I suggested them.

Can we both agree that maybe I was a little sarcastic, and maybe you acted a little over the top and forget this so we can get back to the objective, being helping this person on his computer?

I would suggest something along the lines of this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.99 @ Microcenter)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($109.07 @ NCIX US)

Motherboard: MSI Z77 MPOWER ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($197.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance Performance 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($219.99 @ Newegg)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.99 @ Microcenter)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.99 @ Microcenter)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.99 @ Microcenter)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.99 @ Microcenter)

Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($137.63 @ Amazon)

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 680 2GB Video Card ($504.13 @ SuperBiiz)

Case: Corsair C70 Gunmetal Black (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($128.98 @ Newegg)

Power Supply: XFX ProSeries 750W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($119.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $2007.72

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-03-17 20:55 EDT-0400)

I gave you a 680 because you said video editing and I'm not sure if you can use the GPU acceleration in your program, if not, I would go for a 7970 Lightning (from MSI)

The case is just a placeholder, but I do love my C70.

I gave you a 750w PSU from XFX because it is fucking awesome. I have the same one and it works great (it's an OEM Seasonic-x (so top of the line)) and if you ever want to SLI two 680s, it has the juice.

I didn't know if you already had the four HDDs, but I recommend WD Caviar Blacks if you don't.

I also gave you a 120GB boot SSD for your OS and video editing programs, I was thinking of suggesting a 240GB, but 120GB is usually enough.

I would suggest that you save the extra cash for upgrading to haswel, 7xx or 8xxx tech when they come out.

All great stuff from great manufacteurers.

The case is place holder (for price reference, but it is a good case).

A 680 if you can use the Cuda for GPU acceleration in the video editing, if not, I would go with a 7970 Lightning.

i do intense video and 3d work editing that is why i thought of the thunder fx for the added sound card for sound design

32 Gb is good for me the only thing i dont know is how to choose a power supplie

can you help me out with the voltage and all that (like how much do i need and what is 80 gold)

i was thinking putting 1K down on that or those :P

and do you think the Maximus V thunder FX would also fit well with the rest ?

You think that a GTX 680 is "a little underpowered" How do you make sense of that? If a 660 Ti can play on ultra and maintain reasonable FPS, being 45+ in general, a 680 is practically twixe thT. It's the second best single GPU NVIDIA have to offer. 680 = 7950/7970.

With a high budget and heavy video editing in mind, I'd say go for an X79 platform, with the i7-3930K with a H100i or H220 and maybe the GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4 for a motherboard, with two GTX 680s in SLI. For the power supply I'd probably go with a SeaSonic Platinum SS-760XP and put it all in a Corsair Obsidian 650D case.

80+ is certification for efficient energy use in a PSU which certifies products/PSU's have more than 80% energy efficiency at different rated loads, in other words you want an 80+ PSU, Bronze, Gold, doesn't matter much.

Wattage depends on the work load of the computer, since you're a gamer and heavy video edited you'll need quite a large W PSU, like a TX 750W for example.

Generally most PSU's are pretty good. It comes down a lot to price for performance/returns. Most PSU's come from about 1 of 4 or 5 companies only one of which actually sells PSU's to consumers and that'd be Seasonic.

Which were you looking at?
