Have you looked into monitors and other peripherals? Are you going to upgrade those too?
SLI/CrossFireX setups do exhibit microstutter issues at times which is annoying. Plus you have to wait for SLI profiles when new games come out, or you'll drop down the performance of a single card until you get them. SLI can be a bit of a headache which is one of the things that makes the Titan valuable to some; it can be beat in raw performance by SLI cards at a bit of a lower price, but with the Titan you get consistently high performance while SLI performance can be all over the place, sometimes higher and sometimes lower, depending on how the games are optimized. In some games, 4-way SLI actually performs worse than a single card.

All great stuff from great manufacteurers.

The case is place holder (for price reference, but it is a good case).

The PSU is awesome, OEM Seasonic-X (top of the line). Has enough juice for SLI 680s or 7970s.

A 680 if you can use the Cuda for GPU acceleration in the video editing, if not, I would go with a 7970 Lightning.

Didn't know if you already have the four drives for raid, but I recommend WD Caviar Blacks if not.

Oh only because i don't want to upgrade soon I'm looking for a GPU that will stay in the tops for a while, I'm soon going in an apartment and i will not have the cash anymore so thats why i was looking for putting down 1k on The GPU or GPU's

Sorry i did not mean to say that the GTX 680 was not good in any way it just dos not fit my longterm needs :)

I don't quite get your logic.. Perhaps because there is none. Why do you want to spend 1000 Dollars on Graphics Cards? Forgive me for saying this, and I'm not meaning to be rude but, you're coming of as an immature child. Don't hate, that's just my opinion. I've come across many people like you before who have a lot of cash and want to just wave it about. You can get a more than enough of a decent PC for $1500 which will do what you wan just as well.

If a 650Ti can play any current game on high with reasonable FPS and will do for a little while what do you expect to happen in the next couple of years that will put a 680 out of the leader boards? The only single GPU better than a 680 is a Titan, and maybe a 7970.

Gaming = GPU

Video editing = CPU/RAM.

But hey, doesn't matter right :)

=

Intel i7 3770k

SLI 670/680 / Crossfire 7870/7950 (AMD will be cheaper but since your Bill Gates's son what does that extra matter)

Mushkin Redline / Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB (1866)

ASRock X79 / Asus Rampage IV

Enough storage to suit your needs

Corsair Neutron GTX SSD's

Corsair AX 1000W

Anything else that's needed I'm sure you can choose for yourself considering you know how to build a PC.

Just ignore him... his advice is sort of lobsided anyway :/ To the OP, buying the best of the best components usually isn't worth it. Rather than buy a GTX Titan for $1000 and get some decent performance increase over a $500 GTX 680, when the GTX 680 pretty much is sufficient for any current games, it's a better idea to just save the extra $500 for later and spend it on the newest best card a few years down the road when the GTX 680 is outdated.

Yes. There's a certain optimum price point where you reach the best balance. In the lower range, a $100 graphics card will usually perform 4x as well or more than a $50 graphics card... that eventually swings the other way though, $1000 video cards perform less than twice as well as $500 ones. Usually any of the more "mainstream" cards has the best value; $200-$500 cards.

Yeah you could do that. Usually I'd only recommend SLI if you need more power than you can get with a single card (triple monitors for example). As an upgrade path, it's a better idea when the time comes to upgrade to just sell the card and get the newest top card, which will usually perform as well or nearly as well, and since you'll have a single GPU all the time you can save money upfront on a lower wattage power supply.

With a high budget and heavy video editing in mind, I'd say go for an X79 platform, with the i7-3930K with a H100i or H220 and maybe the GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4 for a motherboard, with two GTX 680s in SLI. For the power supply I'd probably go with a SeaSonic Platinum SS-760XP and put it all in a Corsair Obsidian 650D case.
I agree, The extra threads would really help.
