Hello

I'm planning on buying a 2nd system, to run obs, obs only, if I get an i5 I'll probably paire it with a 1050 or something higher so I have the option to take it with me so a smaller case would be nice.

I have the option to get an E5-2603 v4 for 40 euros, paired with a x99 tomahawk makes it 300 euros.

If I get an i5-6500 with the msi H110M grenade (original name), makes it 270.

If you have any other ideas, let me know. I don't want to spend too much on cpu and mobo, 300ish is the max.

Thanks in advance!

#EDIT: A 2nd RJ45 would be nice since I have to use a crossover cable.

The 6 core would work nicely for streaming, not so much for gmaing likely if you wanted to be able to have a second pc around for friends to use, but believe it or not having a dedicated gpu is important. I found that the intel iGPUs caused a lot of problems with OBS. Doens't have to be anything special, just use an old gpu if you have one, or get like something cheap off of ebay.

My capture PC uses a 3770k and a 970 (used parts from my last gaming pc) and a Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI

Some other people stated that the core speed would be an issue on this chip

it would be for gaming, yes, but IIRC obs studio is pretty multi-threaded? I don't know really, I guess I haven't experimented. It would be a problem for gaming, that's for sure so yah the i5 is a safer option.

I'm not going to use a capture card tho, I have an old Amd X4 9550 system here, with a gt 9300 running at 80°C idle and I'm able to see the display on another pc so I got that working...

....so what are you gonna stream from it? I thought it was a dedicated streaming pc?

Sorry, forgot I posted on here. I'm going to use a dedicated streaming pc but with newer components, the Phenom isn't capable of a 480p stream without stuttering.
