4 pin vs 8 pin

mc141

so i got this free router from newegg but the model only has 4 pins on the ethernet conections but every other device i have has 8 pins. does this mean that the newegg provided router is only half duplex since it is 4 pin i do a lot of streaming with my hdhomerun prime and i have me and my kid playing multiplayer games onli e and my wife watching her boring spanish programs on youtube i dont want half duplex cuz i dont want to have perfomance issues from it having a ton of colisions

Please, try to use proper English.

Anyways, it shouldn't matter unless you have gigabit up and down

sorry typing on a phone. in the next 2 3 months im planning to upgrade every thing to gigabit after i get my 290x directcu when asus releases it. im planning on building 1-2 more htpcs and getting another 2  hd homerun primes. so my kids have a dvr/game machine on there tv and so i dont have to spend 50 a momth on cableboxes with dvr service. that and hes starting to not be gable to play games on his laptop anymore ssince gpu ant strong enough for newer games

A standard RJ45 only uses 4 of the wires for data in a standard network, so will make no difference whatsoever....

4 pins are used for a standard 10/100 connection, the extra pins can be used for gigabit or other applications such as PoE (Power over ethernet). Many ISP's where i live run 2 separate connections on one wire to save on running an extra cable.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

@rufee is right 1 pair is for sending other pair is for receiving.  Other pairs are for extra applications you can use such as your PoE switches which send power to stuff like phones and WAP's.
