Hey, i'm looking to buy a new headset in the $100 price point. there are many features I must have or really prefer so I wanted to ask you guys which one is the best at this price range.

Must Have:

  • Microphone (will be mainly used for Skype calls with friends while gaming, so quality is important, but not my top concern)
  • USB Connection (my PC integrated soundcard has some crackling issues and this must be solved. I don't care if it comes with only USB or with an external DAC like the Cloud II for instance...)
  • Over ear headset (not on ear)

Prefer to Have (sorted by importance):

  • 7.1 channel support (for games and movies)
  • PS4 support
  • Detachable cable from headset (so in case something goes wrong it can be replaced)
  • Detachable/Retractable Mic
  • Mic mute button built on the headset

I do understand that there's probably no headset that meet all my requirements, I'm just looking for the pair that would meet most of the important ones. As I already said in the title, the budget is $100 but Im willing to pay more if the product would justify the price.

Currently I'm looking on the HyperX Cloud II and Corsair's VOID 7.1 RGB, and I'd like to hear your reccomendations too! :)

Thanks in advance

It has a lot of good reviews, Well below your price range, includes a usb adapter, and it has PS4 support although probably only through usb. No detachable mic but the headphones are so inexpensive, it would cost just as much for a new pair of the same ones as a new mic for a lot of other headsets. I do not have one of these but plan on getting one someday.

Will look at this more deeply. I dont like that it comes with 2 separated cables but I'd read on them more reviews, because they come with a decent price.

thanks!!

I made an account just to respond to this post, the Hyperx cloud 2 is IMO the best choise and fits into your requirements, the mic quality is good enough for talking with friends and ingame

thanks mate! currently im looking on logitech's g430, cloud II and siberia 350. the cloud II do look awesome and I think they are probably better than the g430 while their price is almost the same.

Really? they do look really comfortable. However their sound quality doesnt seem to be good

I agree with TheGrimElite, Corsair Void isn't that comfortable, it feels even a slight cheap. Would have loved to pair them with my Corsair mouse/keyboard. I can't say about the mic qualities but HyperX headsets are the most comfortable "gaming headsets" I've tried so far. I wear glasses and most headphones start to hurt because they give too much pressure over time, I didn't have this issue with HyperX Cloud II / Revolver. Both of them felt really light (no pressure) and were comfortable to wear. Going to buy the Cloud II whenever I spot a good price. Sorry for a bit late reply.

Thanks mate! I cant decide wether to buy the Cloud II or Siberia 350. For some reason the 350 doen't have much reviews and the price here at my local store is almost the same for those 2. The Corsair Void is no longer an option for me now

Go for Cloud II, with a quick search it's higher rated. The mic might be slightly better on Siberia but it loses to Cloud II on other details. If you like the style of Siberia better, I recommend you to consider HyperX Revolver. Cloud II has a digital surround sound which might make it sweeter for gaming, on the other hand Revolver comes with slightly better audio quality. Both Revolver and Cloud II are great choices and it mostly comes to personal preference. Hoping this helped!

Thank you very much! The Revolver is not an option sadly because I need headset with digital interface and it has analog.

Guess I'd pick the Cloud because it has higher rating and I like the fact it can be used as analog headphones too with my phone.

Casting my vote for the voids. Don't know what everyone else is talking about, but the two I own are the most comfortable headsets I've ever had. Eight hour gaming sessions have no problems. My only complaint is that the microphone isn't near as good as the cloud II.

Wow, nice (and confusing lol) to hear that. How is the sound quality compared to the Cloud II? And just to make sure- wer'e talking about the VOID RGB 7.1 USB, right?

I have the wireless version, which have the same drivers in the headset itself.

Ok, thanks! I'll look at their price. Sadly I can't still decide on which pair I should take :(

I would go with the wireless. Most of the "limitations" have been worked around by connecting with wifi signals

But the corsair ones aren't as good as the cloud II. I thought you were talking about another headset. I haven't read this thread in a few days.

Yeah, that's why I'd pick the Cloud II probably. They come with a replacement ear cushions, and the fact they can transform into headphones is great
