So my mechanical HDDs are a bit older (SATA 2) and their kinda slow. They both work just fine but the write speeds are garbage. I know there's ways to cache HDDs with RAM or SSDs but I don't know of any good software to do it. I used PrimoCache before and I couldn't get it to work right 90% of the time. My motherboard supports some kind of SSD cache with the HDDs via the chipset but since I'm on the latest beta bios because it's the only one that UEFI the cache thing doesn't work.

Any recommendations?

Just ditch the HDD, and get a SSD

If that was an option I would have.

Windows and Linux have a ram had cache built in that works by default. For ssd cache bcache is nice on Linux. There is storage tiering on Windows, but that's on Windows server only. I'd just get a ssd

.

I have an SSD as my boot drive but it's my HDDs in my system that are slow and I can't afford to just slap in a new 1TB SSD for the hell of it.
