Hey :)

I'm looking for a new 3TB hard drive. I'm intending to put on it my music and videos. I will also record 1080p 60fps videos. Currently I'm wondering between Baracuda 7200.14 and Caviar Black. Could you help me ? I'm rocking a Define R4, so silence is something I care about...

I'd go for a 3TB Seagate drive http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3tb-seagate-st3000dm001-barracuda-720014-sata-iii-6gb-s-7200rpm-64mb-cache-8ms-ncq-oem.  Don't think you need to spend 50% more on the Caviar Black.

Get yourself an WD Red 3 tb (It's not that slow it's extremly quiet and it runs cool)

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

you cant record 1080p at a 7200rpm drive. let alone 60 fps

So only an SSD would be suitable?

Yeah, I would be more worried about this, rather than the drive.

But between the 2 you listed, I'd go with the Seagate. I have had both and am currently running 4 of those Seagate 3tb drives and I love them.

Server/NAS - i5-4570 | Gigabyte Z97 Ud5h | 32gb Crucial 1600mhz | 500gb Samsung 850 evo | 4x 4tb WD Reds | Corsair H80 | Bitfenix Shinobi | Windows 7 Pro |

Go with the Seagate Barracuda 3TB as others have suggested.

I would personally go with the WD drives.  I've had better experiences with WD drives.  Of course I can afford the extra cost.  Your situation may vary.

Desktop: Intel Core i7-6700K, ASUS Z170-A, ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 Ti, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512 GB Samsund 840 Pro, Seasonic X series 650W PSU, Fractal Design Define R4, 2x5TB HDD

Hypervisor 1: Intel Xeon E5-2630L, ASRock EPC612D8, 16GB DDR4 ECC RAM, Intel RT3WB080 8-port RAID controller plus expansion card, Norco RPC-4020 case, 20x2TB WD Red HDD

Other spare hypervisors: Dell Poweredge 2950, HP Proliant DL380 G5

Laptops: ThinkPads, lots of ThinkPads
