NO u dont need

I think you'll be fine with regular RAM. Judging from the pics

It wouldn't block it if you point the fan vertically. If you point it to blow horizontally, you would need low profile ram. If you want low profile ram, the Kingston HyperX Black 8GB 1600mhz is a good choice. But you could put it on the other side to avoid ram issues.
