First time watercooler

Go to solution Solved by Whaler_99,

Typically that is how you add extra rad's to a build. You link them in serial... but, loop order doesn't make much difference. Could have RES->PUMP->RAD->CPU->RAD->RES or RES->PUMP->CPU->RAD->RAD->RES... You just always want the output of the res going to the input of the pump... in those res/pump combo's though, that is already taken care of for you. :)

Essentially the more rad you add, the cooler you can run your system and quieter you can run fans. A 240mm rad is better then say a 120+140 ONLY in that you save the costs of some extra compression fittings, tubing and possible leak points. But, cooling capacity is pretty much the same. But, if you can only fit a 120 and a second 140, that would be better then just a 140....

Hey everyone, so I decided I wanted to try out watercooling. I have a CM storm Scout (yes I know not good for putting reservoirs in it) and I have a maximum budget of 170 euros (I am in France), I want to start of with a basic loop with just my cpu in it. I started looking around, and have overlooked a cpu waterblock:

(the more money I save the better, if I don't have to spend all the money then I wont)

I was looking for advice for the pump, reservoir and lastly a radiator (and judgement on my waterblock choice ;) ), I can either mount a 140mm at the top or a 120mm at the back, I've got plenty (3) 5.25 inch drive bays and would prefer a reservoir that can go in those bays. Thanks in advance ;)

With only those rad options, go for 140mm. But, question, that case is limited. Will you be upgrading it soon to upgrade your loop? Honestly, a 140mm rad won't give you great numbers. If you have no plans to expand the loop or get a new case any time soon, a AiO unit might be a better choice...

Now, back to choices, get the thickess rad you can and fans with really good static pressure settings...

For res/pump - this is a good starting choice...http://www.docmicro.com/pieces/XSPC-Reservoir-Double-Baie-Pompe-X2O-750-DUAL-12-Volts-NOIR-V4_10933.html

You could also good with one of the say the XSPC res and add the Laing D5 pump for absolute performance and expandability down the road -but the XSPC with the 750v4 is a good value.

Thanks for the reply, Basically I wanted to have the choice whenever I upgraded (I would only have to buy the tubing again), I love tinkering, and spending time with my computer that's why I wanted to do a basic loop, the pump/res seems really godd and looks awesome, I was also wondering if I couyld make a 120+140 radiator by simply linking both rads with tubing
