So my current PSU is starting to fail, and since i don't want my PC to out of commission while I send it to XFX for Repair/RMA (for however long it takes), I am looking for a new PSU for my PC.

I was planning on building another PC later this year with Vega and Zen, or Kabylake and 1070/1080. But seeing as how my current PSU is acting up I'm going to purchase this next one now and use it till i can get this one sent in and back.

So what i was wondering is what is the highest quality one I could get with $101 USD, I do not have a penny more. I have amazon prime, but not any other service that offers free shipping.

All I care about it Full Modular (with the ability to later purchase cablemods for my new rig), enough wattage with either of the previously mentioned component sets (just assume the unreleased products are at the same watt requirements of the previous gen if unknown, since i doubt they will require more power).

I have referenced the PSU tier list, and the wattage list, but i am mostly looking for the experience of others on this forum, and not using pcpartpicker because i don't really trust those reviews and most of those sites listed as I have only ever heard of a couple of them out side from buying from NCIX, Amazon, and Newegg.

Thanks in advanced for any and all help.

Nothing to see here, move along

you may want to check out kijiji or craigs list since you can usually get decent power supplies for 100 or less i've picked up several 1000 watt power supplies corsair evga and cooler master for less than 100 cad each

this is USD, and that is a good suggestion for most, unfortunately im here in the middle of nowhere in rural ID, the closest place that has anything better than prebuilt pc's from 2005 or earlier is over 4hrs away by car, as for PSU's the best i have even semi-locally (45minute drive) is cheap generic, or $100+ tax for a 500w non-modular 80+ (only 80+ no bronze, silver, gold, ect.) silverstone, as the best buy in logan doesn't carry psus, and the computer stores have high markup as they are oriented towards businesses that have more money than sense.

Nothing to see here, move along

Here is my advice. Go for higher quality rather than high wattage. If you can find a gold 800w with sheathed cables... you will do much better than an iffy 1000w without.  Quality beats  wattage.

I understand that, and it was good you mentioned in case i didn't, the sheathed cables are later, and not factored in the budget, just as long as it has the ability to be sheathed, or have the options at cable mods for later down the road next year when the other build is  built.

Like for instance, what are your builds running? the point of this post was just to try to find a higher quality (mostly from user experience from this forum) and get something like that.

I'm running a 1200w psu that works great but it has terrible cables so sometimes you gotta jiggle the 24 pin.... you can do fine without sheathed but you gotta look for build quality. If thRe is no power switch it prolly is not great... if it's cheaper and really flashy looking is also a bad sign. Best way is to look a reviews and go with the top rated brands.
