Does the heat when using VR apps on a mobile device have any negative effect on the future performance of that device. I understand why this level of heat is involved but can it cause any damage to the phone itself?

No it shouldn't. Phone manufacturers would set a limit to how hot it can get and then thermal throttle if it's too hot that it could damage your device.

no, i have never noticed heat at all, only when taking it out
