I was hoping somebody on the forum would be able to help me with this problem I have with my htc One. I bought it secondhand yesterday. I made sure to pick one of high quality using the grading system the shop had. So I traded in my iPhone 5 for this htc One, which isn't very old at all.

I was playing around with android for the first time and I think I have a problem with my camera, specifically the focus and lighting. Macro shots are INCREDIBLY sharp no matter how I take them, which is awesome. But if I want to take a picture of something more than four feet away the phone simply won't focus. No matter how many times I tap to adjust it, it won't focus sharply at all... It's almost like it goes clear but then reverts to being just a little soft after, which isnt right.

in addition, in low light there is an odd purple tinge to the image, and in complete darkness the image turns red. Adjusting the ISO affects this, so I don't know what the cause is. I'll post some sample images soon.

If anyone has any insight into the problem, I'd really appreciate it. Oh and my htc is running 4.2.2 on htc software number 2.24.401.1

I don't think it was dropped, there's no cosmetic damage to the device... I have looked around on the internet and quite a few people are experiencing the same issue, there just aren't any answers. :/

Here are some example pictures:

As you can see, the macro shot of the BlackBerry is great. The ironing board is about as far as the camera wants to focus. For the third picture I tapped on the light shade to focus - not producing a clear image at all. For the final picture I covered my hand over the sensor. It should be black, not pink!

The 'red/blue/pink/purple' tint in low-light shots is a problem a lot of people are having and HTC has even acknowledged it.  Some people think it's a problem due to heat.

I honestly didn't know this was a problem, instead I thought those poor low light photos were a result of me just taking quick shots and the ISO automatically going to some high value.  When I tried manual settings, I still had the problem so I began investigating it and found it to be quite the common problem.  I also found out that ATT mobile centers (not the stores) are replacing HTC Ones with this problem on a drop-in basis.  So I plan on doing that soon, though the closest one to me is an hour away.

Don't have a HTC One, but are you sure you're not in a macro mode or something?

Also, download "lgcamera" from the play store - it allows you to change the focus mode of the camera - try all of the focus modes and see if any of them will focus.

I need more SSDs.

Yup, tried playing around with a lot of things and it was still broken. I'd rather not have to get it repaired but I need to really. I arranged a repair with HTC a few days ago so I'll post here again when it's back to see if the problem is fixed. :)
