I currently have a 27" ASUS PB278Q as my primary display that I got back in 2013. I wanted to get one of the ROG Swift monitors as replace/secondary monitor. I'm able to find the old TN version on new egg refurbished for $500 is it worth it, or do you think with all the 4k displays coming out of CES if there's going to be some better 120-144Hz g-sync options afterwards for reasonable pricing?

I understand that the longer you wait the better the pricing will be (obviously) but this specific form factor doesn't seem to be going down in price too much over the next one to three months.

Whether it's worth it for you (for gaming) would defiantly depend on the rig you have, and how much it's worth it to you. To me, G-sync is more than worth every penny.

I don't really want to spend more than about $600 on a monitor, and I would be able to get the original swift for that price, and I've heard different things about the IPS version of it (mostly bad things about light bleed). So that's why I've been looking at the TN version. However I've not found any other g-sync monitors that look to be good quality in the price range.

I just realized that was the 1440p version, sorry the names are pretty similar. You could try another brand maybe.

What other brands? The only ones I found are Dell, Acer, Asus, and PixelPerfect. And from what I remember Acer and Asus use the same panel >.<
