Hey guys, i need some opinions here.

My friend has a 1k budget for a pc he wants to build. Its primarily a workstation but he does play games sometimes(mostly runescape) he need a bit of ram and a pretty decent video card. Any recommendations for the build? Basically what would you guys do if you had a 1k budget and needed somethig like this. He also has no clue what he wants as far as peripherals but he has put 700$ to the side for that. Your thoughts?

My brother who is a huge runescape fan also wants to build a computer. He pretty much has the same situation above except with a 3k budget and 1k for all the extra stuff(peripherals etc)...dont ask me how his young self got 3k lol

Finally my build. I have posted previously about me having a 5k budget. I need quite a bit of ram. ram has to be >16gbs

I need a good graphics card because i play a bit of rs as well but i make plenty of music and do a lot of video editing and website design. I have an extra 1k for the extra stuff.

Pretty all 3 computers are primarily used for the same thing(runescape, music production, video editing). The differences between all of these is the budget. Sooo can anyone help me put together these builds for the 1k, 3k, and 5k USD budgets? Lol id be very grateful

heres another thread a bit like this (just like the 7 before that)

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/71458-new-pc-questionssuggestions/

it should give you all a rough start, for peripherals id get a corsair m65 and a k70 keyboard but it comes down to all your personal preferences. im sorry to bail but (im tired) ive read so many posts asking what to buy for £1000/$1000 and tweaked this spec a bit here and there so often, im sure woodenmarker and coolbeans will show up any second and give you help. may call in later to see the judgement.

dont get 16gb of ram, by the time you need it everyone will be using ddr4..

important notes where applicable, get an 8320 isntead of 8350, the hyper 212 is awesome, get a board with an 8+2 vrm and your good.

in your case it might be worth getting an asus xonar dx sound card and some sennheiser hd555's if they still make them...linus seems to like them..

Where are you shopping from/located? Currency? Do you need a copy of Windows?

What kind of scale do you work on for both video editing and music editing? Programs being used?

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

I feel that you could have kept your build on your original post  and open this one for your brother & friend now that you are on this thread I will my suggestion for your build here

Not just him, Ive made pretty much the same build 8 times in the last 2 months or less, "building a pc for my friend £1000 budget", "help me choose a $1000 pc", "how can i improve this 1000eur pc".

8320

hyper 212 evo

gigabyte ud3

samsung 840 250gb ssd

7950 or r9-280x depending on budget maybe a 770

corsair rm650w

a case you like by corsair, fractal design or nzxt

im not saying everyone should have the same build but its not suprising most people tend to have the same sort of budget and the same sort of demands so it only needs slight tweaking here and there, got a bigger budget go i7 and gtx780/r-290x, got enough money to water cool do it?

need peripherals get a ducky/corsair keyboard with the switches you like and a m65/m90/g500/g600, get an asus panel (the founder of the forum does tech reviews!)

This is now wearing on me more than those threads called "gtx780 vs r9-290x" or "amd vs intel" or "gtx770 vs r9-280x" etc, im retiring lol

on topic, you shouldn't base your build on how much money you have and buy more to get it to that budget...

...you should base your build depending on your needs and if you have money left over..great!, if your needs exceed your funds...save up!

daaannyyy's build makes no sense, those ssd's 1200w psu? really? whatever but what makes you happy.

My take on these builds besides yours is that Runescape probably needs the least an A10 6800k and 4gbs of Ram since its a internet browser game, but to stay true to the price budgets I tried to keep around them.

Build for you (Assuming $6k but these build are way under $5k)

Without Peripherals: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1WTba

With Peripherals: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1WTiH

Build for your Friend (If I read correctly $1.7k?): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1WTx3

Build for your Brother (I'm assuming $4k?): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1WTW6

Project Restomod (In progress)

USD

I do need a copy of windows.

I use pro tools, fl studio, reason, and adobe audition. And the music is a large scale project but the video editing is just every once in a while for now

USD

I do need a copy of windows.

I use pro tools, fl studio, reason, and adobe audition. And the music is a large scale project but the video editing is just every once in a while for now

So all 3 computers are going to be used to edit video and music?

Yes.

Just to make sure, the total budgets are $1700, $4000, and $6000? Is any of the money interchangeable?

Nope . Each budget is its own

My recommendations:

$1700: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2188Y

$4000 & $5000: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/218cZ

You might just want to head over to the audio section and get some more in depth info. Also, you might as well save up the rest of the money for future upgrades. Value and diminishing returns starts falling quite quickly as you spend more.
