HELP WITH OPTIPLEX

I don't know why but I keep getting BSOD every 5 mins for different reasons every time,
What OS should I use?

What OS are you using? What are some of the errors you get?

Check to ensure you are not overheating due to dust build up inside the case. This is a very common issue with pre-builts such as these. if that checks out, then try and download memtest86 and run it and see if it returns memory errors.

I ran memtest86 a while back when it started and it froze at 20% (Memory was fine without xeon)

did you change the CPU? Dell uses proprietary components and BIOS so the CPU may not be compatible with the board regardless if its the same LGA socket or not.

Using 771 to 775 mod, worked for a week then it started raining BSOD's

Ok guys I saw that whenever temp files is written to I get a random cause of BSOD

likely going to be related. Try with the original CPU. Dell is very picky with support. Usually you want to use AIB boards to do things like this and not proprietary stuff from the likes of Dell/HP/Gateway etc...

1 BSOD so far error was NMI hardware Failure

Put the original CPU in and see if the problem continues.

Already did and it kinda still does It did take like 3 min to boot D:

 

It was so faster with the x5450

Did bend a pin when cutting off the tabs on the sides of the socket but I fixed it with my hand

 

No other way to fix it but m nail so yah I had nothing smaller

UPDATE: Might be the motherboard because the ram slots have to be bent around for the machine to post SOOOOO NOW I NEED NEW SOCKET 775 MOBO ;-;

if it's all reasons in the world, it can be two things;

- you need to reinstall your OS

- your hardware is broken beyond broken.

Buy a new machine, optiplexes often have proprietary mobos
