Updated server h/w gaming pc?

I thought of building a desk PC (mounted directly on the desk as one of the Linus videos)

Was wondering what you thought about this configuration for the basics. Do let me know if you think you can find better hardware for around the same price point.

you know.. finding better wont be that hard, you're essentially beat by a "modern" chip that can be had for roughly the same price, and comes with motherboards that actually have I/O on them.
