Windows Update Hanging

My computer running Windows Vista (Though I have not had a problem with this yet and I said this a million times already, I am not interested in upgrading to a newer version of Windows so don't waste your time) has a problem with Windows Update. I had a similar problem in Windows 7 as well. Whenever I run Windows Update, it just hang. Any fixes?

just use wsusoffline its easier

i did not know they were still issuing updates for vista. i get hangs due to network issues like another device hogging bandwidth. one fix is to roll it back using windows restore, turn off AV & steam etc, then try update late at night. also check hard drive spare space is enough

Windows Vista is still supported for another 4 months (Though I doubt Microsoft actually makes updates for Vista). Since my OptiPlex has no Wi-Fi, I'm using my MacBook and an Ethernet cable to get connected, so I might try plugging directly into the modem tomorrow.
