Wait or not to wait?

Hey guys,

 

I was looking for a gaming laptop, but after awhile almost all the gaming laptops that I tried had problems. So, I gave up on getting a portable gaming laptop. (since I already got a beast of gaming rig). Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a dell xps 15, to replace my current macbook pro 13(2013) that I'm using. Should I wait for the new xps 15, which probably be much expensive than the old model. I can get the current one for 1900 dollars. I'm an EE student, and xps 15 should be overkill for me, since I gotten almost through my program using a mac lol...

Wait for new one, will probably have a GTX 1050 which will rekt the 960M

1050 will be 20% faster than the 960m according to benchmark from notebookcheck, rekt is probably an over estimate. It will perform as the old 965m.

 

It's the "ti" variant which will perform 50-60% faster than the 960m, but won't be available in the dell xps 15

If you are purely using it for work, I would recommend one of the new MacBook Pros :). You mention that you already have a beast gaming PC, so something that's light, portable, and reliable would be good.
