Best GPU for $200

I have 2 boys and I am building battle stations for them. I have built 3 rooms in my basement, one for each of us. The pc's are built in to the desk I have created complete with LED lights and I am almost done. I am running amd fx 8350 on two of them and I am looking for a good GPU for them. They will have three 24 inch monitors hooked up and I want them to be able to start their own youtube channel doing video game reviews (not looking to get rich or famous more for fun and teaching my sons about business). I was looking at 8gb vram but after watching the linus video about vram i am not sure i need that much. I would like to spend no more than $200 per card. I know this doesn't give me alot of options but I have already but over $3000 into this project. I plan to upgrade them later on but for now, looking for something to help get them started. The card I have picked out so far is

GIGABYTE Radeon RX 470 G1 Gaming 4GB GV-RX470G1 GAMING-4GD

They play all sorts of games, and I would like them to be able to play them on the highest settings. (mincraft, GTA, Call of Duty, Star Citizen and much more) Their monitors are 1920 x 1080, acer model KA240H if that helps.

Linus suggested in the video someone here may be able to point me in a good direction. Thanks for the help in advance!

The RX 470 should be good for this build. You could put a bit more in for the RX 480 and be able to play those games on full ultra.

The R9 280X runs all those games 1080p with high framerate. I have the same card and monitor and know that you get good frame rates. You can get it pretty cheap as well.

EDIT: In Australia, you can pretty easily find a R9 280X for around USD 110.

Welcome! If you live in the US, there are options for RX 480s for not much more than $200.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150775

I would get two of those.

As for why not other cards? RX 470s are 15% slower and GTX 1060 3GB are 10% slower respectively, than an RX 480 4GB

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

I have a Nvidia preference which leads me to agree with the gtx 1060 comment above or a 1050ti.

I'm sure you considered it, but be wary about how you're going to record the gameplay and play across the monitors with the hardware requirements.

The $200 price point is the threshold between good 1080p gaming and stunning performance. I would wait and spring for the 6Gb GTX1060 or 8Gb RX480.

Please avoid the gigabyte AMD cards, the RX 480 G1 temperature results leads me to be wary about their quality.

Stick with XFX, MSI, and Sapphire.

Also, the MSRP of the RX 470 should be 169 USD. You should be able to get a RX 480 4GB at this price.

Thanks everyone for the fast replies,  I have built several pc's but this is my biggest undertaking ever. I have always used Nvidia so that's why i was wondering about other brands.

Also, If you were willing to spend 40 USD more, you could possibly go for 4 and run them in SLI if your PSU is good enough.

but... why would you get an older card, get a cheaper card, and then crossfire them "in SLI"

LTT forums rule of thumb: single faster card before multi gpu solutions.

Sorry meant crossfire. Just woke up, not in it. The card may be older, but still will run fine for what is needed.

except that putting two of them in CF is a stupid idea if there's more modern cards that do the thing A LOT better for the same price.

True, CF isn't a good idea, but buying one you probably won't find better performance at the USD 110 price mark.
