I just upgraded my computer, I moved everything to a new case, got a new power supply, and installed a crucial ssd. There were some files that I wanted to keep from my old hard drive, so I transferred them to the ssd, I then used the windows media creation tool to put my OS on a usb drive, and installed it on the ssd, after windows was on the ssd, I activated it and started installing drivers and such, I also wiped my old hdd by going to the admin command prompt, diskpart, and then using the "clean" command. I shut my computer down for the night and returned the next morning.

This is where my problems began.

I booted the computer and was greeted with a black screen saying:

"Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 083)

Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Coporation

For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.1.0.9(08/12/11)

Check cable connection!

PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM

ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed"

I spend the next couple hours trying to diagnose this. I checked the BIOS, and the system recognizes both the hdd and ssd in their respective SATA slots. However, the usb drive is still plugged into my computer, and it is not recognizing it as a boot device, although it did last night.

What went wrong? Why did my computer boot before but not now? Why doesn't the computer recognize the usb disk as a bootable option? Do I need to buy a new copy of windows?

My Computer:

Motherboard:   Pegatron 2ad5

CPU:                Intel i7 3770

GPU:                Nvidia GTX 750ti

PSU:                Corsair CX500

RAM:               12GB Samsung DDR3 1800

Storage           Crucial MX300 750gb, Seagate 2TB

your computer is trying to boot to the network.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

All of the following was done without the USB drive inserted

(I'm getting the OS from a different windows 10 computer using the media recovery tool)

After disabling Network Boot, I now receive only this message

"ERROR: No boot disk detected or the disk has failed"

I tried booting in AHCI (default), IDE and RAID to no avail. I tried booting directly from my ssd, same error.

In the boot order, I disabled all sources other than SATA 0 (ssd), then SATA 1 (hdd), same error.

Through the BIOS, I performed the DPS Self Test included in the HP bios, the ssd passed.

I'm assuming that the first night, the computer never booted using the ssd, but instead used the USB.

Why can't my computer boot from the ssd even though it had a verified copy of windows running on it?

try putting a linux distribution on a flash drive and booting to that. the other thing you could try is repairing the master boot record although that usually give you an error if that is corrupt or missing. You can also try reformatting the ssd and reinstalling windows.

do you have a sata dvd drive you can plug in and boot from a windows recovery disc. Do other usb devices work if not then either your bios is corrupt or  your motherboard is broken. Can you install linux to your ssd from another pc and try to boot to that for now.

The computer won't boot from the linux disk I made, and now the usb ports are working sporadically,

I'm assuming this means its a motherboard problem?

probably flaky internal usb hub. probably not the bios cause then I don't think It would be flakey if you have a local pc repair shop they might be able to test your components individually to narrow down the problem
