Black Screen when trying to install Windows

So, my sister's boyfriend is trying to install windows for me right now, but he saying that when he tries to turn on the PC, it just shows a black screen. Any ideas?

 

Specs:

i5-4690k

MSI z97 Gaming 5

16gb of DDR3

500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD

Gigabyte 1060 6gb G1 Gaming

EVGA G2 650w

 

Edit* Is it possible my SSD was doa? When I first started it up, the bios recognized my old HDD, yet I wasn't able to find my SSD in my bios
