Nope. The 3.5mm jack is just a connector, if you so desired you could wire it up to a mains plug. the connector has absolutely no link to the headphone impedence and sensitivity or the devices output specs.

 

if you've got a crackly connection then there is a loose connection somewhere, try the headphones with a different device and different headphones with the device to see where the loose connection is, solve accordingly.

Probably would melt the internal plasics though. But your point is valid.
