New card ideas / help

Juggern0ttt

Display 2560x1080 75hz

I7 6700k

16gb 2400 ddr4

Msi z170 m5 mobo

Cx750 psu

Looking for the best option around 250$.

Leaning away from the 1060 due to lack of sli support would a 970 still be a viable option over a Rx480?

Eh. A 1060 is at the level of 980 so getting a 970 is a bad choice.

See for used cards if you want to maximize performance like R9 Fury/Fury X

Well the 970 is only like 180$ at microcenter so getting them in sli is an option sooner than later

Fury (X) wouldn't be a bad idea, personally though I would go for an RX 480 as the driver updates have shown very promising increases in performance and it is basically on par with the 1060 at DX11 and destroys it in DX12 and Vulkan. I wouldn't buy a 970 as it is barely holding on to its lead over the RX 480 and will start to fall behind as time goes by due to lesser support for older architectures.

A 1060/480 are ahead of a 970 for sure. A 970 I would say is more or less closer to a 3GB 1060 and ahead of a 4GB RX 470
