Not looking for any massive jump in performance from my previous build, just more of an updated build of what i had previously since it's been 4.5 years. I'm happy with the performance i have gotten in the years using my current build. I mostly use it for gaming and other entertainment purposes.

How do things look? No compatibility issues? Any component issues been going on with any of the parts listed? Should i wait for any new parts coming out? Should i swap out any components for something different? Any info and tips is greatly appreciated!  Trying to stay under $1700

From the practicality standpoint you would be ok with just upgrading your gpu and ssd (if you need more space). You won't really get much performance improvements with the rest. But hey I know it's always fun to build new :)

$280 for a motherboard? When you would have the same experience for $140?

I would switch that.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

I would agree, but yeah it's mostly just to build a new PC. My brother needs a better PC, so i will be selling him my current one and using the money from that to build a new one.

At this point you should wait for Kaby Lake and a (more moderately priced) Z270 motherboard. It won't be a big difference, but it is the latest.

(The Asus Z170-Deluxe is overkill unless you plan to heavily overclock or need some of the features. A mid-range Z170/270 motherboard will handle a 'normal' overclock.)

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

I would switch that.

And possibly spend the saved money on an i7.
