Transmitter,  TX, receiver, rx. In fpv, people often refer to the video transmitter as a VTX because it's a lot shortener.

Simple question, what does the "x" stand for in VTx? I'm putting togheter a drone and making a list of all the diffrent parts and their abbreviations.

No, VT stands for Video Transmitter but I don't know what the X stands for.

My guess is that it's like with data communications RX/TX, where the Xes does not stand for anything. 

 

TX - Transmit

RX - Receive

 

It's probably just because single letter acronyms are quite rare in general.
