6700k Core Temps

Hi Everyone,

Just looking for some advice on my CPU temps. The chip is run at stock and is cooled by a Xigmatek Dark Knight Frostbourne Edition using a Noctua Redux PWM fan. I ran the AIDA64 Stability test for about 30 minutes and the ambient is a humid 25c. Are these temps considered normal and safe? I've noticed core3 seems to be a fair amount cooler then the rest.

Those all look quite good nothing wrong here, if you plan on overclocking or such you will want to keep temps <85C.

indeed they look good. It is normal to have some disparity between cores. Best of luck dialing in that OC :)

EDIT: If memory serves me correctly, this is your summer months in Australia so whatever you dial in should be perfect year round.

It might not hurt to reapply your thermal paste, but you are well under any concerning temps.

Sure some difference between cores is supposed to be expected, but that much makes me think wether or not the heatsink is unevenly mounted... did you use the starpattern when screwing on it, with multiple tightening steps?

Anyway, your temps are well within limit, with plenty of headroom, the suggested 85C however is outside my recommendation.

Here's a guide on properly monitoring the temperatures and what is considered good max temps:

Don't forget to invest in an Intel Tuning Plan if you're going to overvolt your K/X CPU

The temps only go off when under stress. On idle and light loads the core temps are within 2c of each other. I may try reseating.
