So, a few months ago I ordered a really cheap microphone off of amazon called the Floureon BM-800 condenser microphone, it rubs off of XLR power, and I am running it through a 4V phantom power supply, then to an XLR to 3.5 MM cable, and then into the mic/audio jack on my "laptop" (it's just a Chromebook so...). Anyway, the mic sounds really quiet, and you need max volume to hear ANYTHING coming out of the microphone on the receiving end, plus the audio quality that I heard from multiple sources of people reviewing the mic was much better than the results  I am currently getting. what am I doing wrong? (I have a sick gaming rig currently in the works right now so I'm currently using my cheap laptop as my mic input, however my PC has a Creative Soundblaster Audigy RX 7.1 Audio Card in it so my results may vary, but I have run this mic off two different laptops so far and have had nothing but the previously stated issues.

Here is the link to my 48V Phantom Power Supply (Techsource reviewed this exact mic with this exact power supply but got much better results even without using an audio interface): https://www.amazon.com/InnoGear-Condenser-Microphone-Recording-Equipment/dp/B00KAPGLQC

None yet, I'm just using it for video chat (I.E. Google Hangouts). Anyway when I finish my beast rig (which will be VERY soon) what audio software should I use for beginners, and what settings should I use?

Audacity. Try adjusting the gain.
