Help with optical audio

Hey

I'm trying to connect my bose soundbar to my TV and then connect an apple TV over hdmi and listen to it over the soundbar. It's connected over optical audio

It's not working so any help would be appreciated it's a Samsung TV

By default the TV may not be outputting audio over it's TOSLINK output and only it's internal speakers.  Cheap it's settings.  Don't worry about the Apple TV, get audio coming out of the TV at all over it's TOSLINK port, everything else should fall in place.
