I don't know what you're trying to say. There's no point in buy that CPU, and OP has an 1151 socket mobo chosen.

Yeah, 8GB would be a suitable minimum.  16GB is more for "just to sure you won't likely need more anytime soon".

i bought 16GB five years ago. iv never needed it but i can get away with no swap. things might be different with GPU reaching 8GB VRAM now

Idk if I've gotten anywhere near running low on available RAM either but it's nice to know I have more than I need.

Why would more VRAM affect how much RAM you'd need?

there is a relationship. I would aim for equal or greater system ram to vram; there used to be a 4:1 ratio recommendation but that is outdated. i think its due to system ram gets reserved for addressing; there was a blog post on MSDN from a MS engineer explaining it but i cannot find it. Nvidia atm states min 4GB for the 10 series and 2GB for some older cards

I'm curious why there is a relationship.

i couldnt find the MSDN article. its to do with virtual page addressing, more vram = more addresses required. theres also stages in the graphics pipleine where data gets transferred between cpu and gpu. theres an amount of system ram that windows reserves for graphics and that pretty much increases every generation

Ok.  I think it's enough for now to know that having enough RAM is a good idea.

No, you need a Z170 Motherboard to overclock it.
