Overkill with the RAM, 16gbs is enough, also a great air cooling would be enough just as much, a single GTX 1080 can't keep 60fps on every game though, Titan X might be required but for 1440p yes that is the dream build.

I'm not that cheap.

 

But since you need Z170 for SLI anyway might as well do an i5-6400 in there and BCLK OC it.

I see talks about CPU, GPU and Memory.  Which monitor will be used for that "HDR"?  And for what purpose?  nVidia consumer GPU's support 10-bit color for DirectX fine... but what about OpenGL?
