Can a GTX 1060 and an i5-6500 run the Witcher 3 at Ultra?

Casimiro4366

Can a GTX 1060 and an i5-6500 run the Witcher 3 at Ultra while still maintaining respectable frame rates (50-60 fps)? I would just like to know. If not, what setting should I run it at to get that desired frame rate?

Thanks!

3GB or 6GB? They should able to

The Witcher 3 sees the introduction of the REDengine 3 game engine, which is specifically designed for open world RPG environments. It takes advantage of DirectX 11 with tessellation, and some post-processing effects. In the interest of neutrality, we ran the game with HairWorks disabled.

You should be able to if you turn Hairworks off.

oops I just always assume 60fps as people's standard, especially when 60fps instead of 50fps trumps (or should i say obamas) 16x AAing instead of 8x, for me at least.

Talk about console. They have nowhere near that

The 6GB version can confidently run it at ultra

The 3GB does a bit worse job

If you have a 3GB, just turn AA down, keep in mind these are average framerate numbers and as such don't account for dips (both cards may go down to the 40s at ultra especially in areas that are CPU bound)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Probably, yes. I expect that system to do Ultra minus HairWorks at 1080p and stay around 60 FPS.

I wouldn't be too worried about VRAM. I've modded my Witcher 3 install far beyond the Ultra preset, including higher res textures, better LOD, increased draw distance, denser grass, etc., and the game still never seems to exceed 3 GB.

snip

People overstretch VRAM usage like it's spandex from the 80's.
