M.2 help

I already posted about this but the guy that responded is saying sata and m.2 and nvme and pcie are completely different which is true but twhatbhe wad saying was comeplete crap because i am looking at "m.2 sata" and "m.2 nvme"

 

I am thinking of going to m.2 form factor ssd at some point so I want to learn a bit of this 

 

First of all I have noticed there are M.2 Sata but confused about the difference between the pcie and nvme besides speed which is confusing because how can something be pcie or Sata if it is connected with a m.2 slot?

 

So basically different between m.2 sata,nvme and pcie because ei have seen pcie m.2 that don't fit in the pcie slot

I had replied to your other thread.   The best way to think of M.2 is that it's bridge to you're PCIe bus and actually it is because it utilizes your PCIe lanes.  NVMe is an interface spec compared to AHCI which SATA uses.  M.2 SATA SSDs would just use the AHCI spec rather than NVMe.

m.2 is the socket. nvme and sata are the electronic specs. sata is the older and slower spec

There can be m.2 sata or m.2 nvme.  There isn't a m.2 sata nvme.

Ok I've looked.  I don't know if it's the same ones you've seen but there are M.2 nvme drives which have a SATA adapter to plug your SATA drive into USB to aid in data transfer.  Or you maybe referring to mSATA which is a completely different interface than M.2 which is not even compatible with each other.
