Hello!

I usually use OBS Studio to record my gameplay at 720p 60fps with Mic and other stuff (webcam separate, not like you needed to know that)

However for Christmas I got an Elgato GameCapture HD60 PRO and I was excited to get it because I could record 1080p 60fps easily :D Then I realised the software is buggy as hell and the capture card has HDCP on it so I get black screens regularly :/ However, I figured using OBS with the capture card as a source would work and wouldn't give me 5 seconds of nothingness on my screen every time I change a setting. But what is the point of having the capture card if I'm just going to use OBS to record and use my GPU to encode? Surely that just cancels out the whole point of having one because of the custom video bitrates and frame values etc.

I'd like to know if using the capture card as a source in OBS gives me more of a benefit than just having sources for my games and stuff...

It doesn't seem to make a difference as a though because the bitrate determines how pixelated it will be (plus the resolution). Anyone that can tell me the benefits and the downsides of this method I will gladly accept your response.

Note: OBS seems to have a 2 second delay between what's happening on my main monitor (where the game is) and what happens in the preview window (OBS sits in my second monitor but I know that the monitor isn't getting delayed)
