1080 TI should be out by summer at the absolute latest.

You might want to consider waiting until then.

So i was thinking of getting a GTX 1080 FTW from EVGA. I currently have an i7 4790k and 2 1080p monitors. I am planning of upgrading to 4k once i get the "coin" to get a panel. But do you think its overkill to get a 1080 now? Or do you think i shod go for a 1070 and get a 1440p instead. ( i never seen a 4k display ) :P

Thanks!

If you have 2 1080p monitors and plan on going 4K in the future, then definitely get the 1080.

Wait for 1080Ti. One 1080 is still marginal for 4K. Also, 1080 price will likely drop when 1080 Ti launches.

Why not get a 1080 and add a 1080@X panel? It's what I'm using right now.

My bet is it will closely follow Vega.

If history tells us something. When 780Ti launched, Nvidia dropped the price of 780. When 980 Ti launched, price dropped for 980.

5760x1080? It's 3/4 of 4K. The advantage is that you see more of your surroundings in games and the 1080 sports SMP which helps each monitor have its own view for complete accuracy.Screenshot (56).png

TBH unless your looking on doing some VR stuff, and flight sims such as Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, War Thunder (simulator mode) and other games like that, that require you seeing over crazy vast distances, you can game and be perfectly happy at 1080p. Hell I'm using a monitor from like 2003 with a 1280x1024 resolution only like 17 inches across and I'm perfectly happy, my games run well, and Battlefield 1 still looks amazing.

If you go for highest settings the GTX 1080 which is the one I have is the true 1440p card, it does not run all games decently at 4k, I have done quite a few tests on that and plenty to look up on google.
